However, in the middle of this discussion, the pandemic hit us and everything changed. It would be foolish not to acknowledge the mistake and correct it.

As I truly believe in PLAN DO, and in acting positively in the face of emerging emerging countries that are upon us, therefore, in the face of our pain, the need to connect and think together in the face of the great uncertainty that impacted us to all. I realized my mistake and without betraying my values,.

I realized that since there was no possibility to continue doing real workshops for several months, it was better to start experimenting with the remote model

I say Remote and not Virtual, because the idea was proposed by a facilitator, Nuno Mateiro, in the first experiment we did in April, which was called “Ideas in 3 D”.

Then we discovered that Playing Seriously remotely, that is, with people building in their houses with real pieces and sharing the stories through video conference, could be a good alternative for times of confinement.

After several months of doing workshops using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology in Remote mode almost every day since the first week of April.

I can conclude that, although it is not the same to do a face-to-face workshop as a remote one, the results are amazing.

It is possible and above all necessary, to adapt to this new reality, because if we believe in the plan there is no other alternative, who knows for how long.

The only sure thing today is that we cannot plan anything in the world with any seriousness or possibility that it happens. What is safe today is uncertainty. And we must adapt to that.

If, as facilitators, we are not capable of navigating uncertainty and using our Simple Guiding Principles such as GPS to be able to make decisions in the midst of the greatest uncertainty that many of us have experienced in our history …

Today more than ever we must promote the construction and use of Simple Guiding Principles, among people and organizations.

Some useful tips that we have learned in these months are:

1-Promote by example, the meeting 100 x 100 always. If you don’t respect it as someone can understand it, use it in your remote meetings, they will only believe you if you live it and practice it daily.

2-Always try to understand what others feel, not just what they think.

3-Try not to do sessions of more than 2.30 hours in duration. And in any case use a session with people who have never used the methodology so that they learn to speak in 3 dimensions, using metaphors and telling stories.

4-Use LSP when you think that the tool and methodologies add value to synchronous work.

5-It is important that people build online and at the same time to maintain the spontaneity of construction. Do not do that task sooner or later.

6-LSP 7- Warn that there may be technical problems and is prepared to deal with them.

7-LSP integrates and enhances other methodologies, do not lose the possibility of experimenting with them, in order to provide more power to both.

8-If you can, use music to mark construction times.

9-Record what happened in some format, since we are online, it is easier to do and very useful for the day after.

10-Have fun, enjoy, and challenge them always more, remember that it must be Hard & Fun.

Hopefully our experiences serve you

Hace unos meses, escribí un artículo hablando de la experiencia real con LSP vs la experiencia virtual.
